Seek the Lord

Coach Mitchell’s Breakdown:

The Book of Psalms explores the spectrum of human responses to God and His creation. The diverse moods reflected in the Psalms encompass the entirety of human experience, ranging from exuberant praise to profound despair, intense anger, and doubt regarding God’s care, ultimately culminating in hope rooted in divine assurance. This collection serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking to pray and articulate their emotions. The Psalms authentically depict the fluctuations in our relationship with God while guiding us steadily toward a deeper understanding of Him.

Chapter 34 explores the theme of divine deliverance for the righteous. It delves into the profound ways in which God responds to the pleas of the impoverished, offering salvation to those who cry out in their distress. The chapter further highlights how God provides solace to the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit, as well as how He rescues the righteous amidst various adversities. Ultimately, it emphasizes God's power to redeem the lives of His devoted servants.

Chapter 34:4 conveys that as long as we seek the Lord, He will be present to support us in our various needs. Frequently, during difficult times, we find ourselves pondering "Why me?" rather than turning to the Lord for guidance and understanding. It is important to recognize that challenges are not merely setbacks; they often serve as reminders to seek His wisdom before taking the next steps in our journey.

Self Reflection Questions:

1) With any recent challenges, did you seek the Lord for help and guidance? If not, why not? If so, what guidance did God provide you in your moment of vulnerability with him?

2) Are you aware of the difference between just talking to God about your problems verses Seeking God to assist you with your problems?

3)How can you apply Psalms 34:4 in your role as an athlete or coach in the context of competitive matches?

Prayer Challenge:

When facing feelings of isolation amid challenges and fears, consider reciting this prayer:

"Dear God, I am grateful for all that You are and for everything You will continue to be in my life. Thank you for listening and for rescuing me during my lowest moments. I seek Your wisdom and guidance as I confront the challenges before me today and in the future. Please remind me to prioritize seeking You first and to prepare my heart to move forward with Your guidance. With love, Your child."

Bible Challenge:

Read Psalms 34 1 - 22
